Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a suspected terrorist named Rakibul Islam Rakhi (35) in a case filed for snatching a bag of money from a businessman at gunpoint in Daulatpur of Kushtia.
Khandaker Golam Mortuza, acting company commander of RAB-12 Kushtia camp, confirmed the information through a press release sent.
Earlier, he was arrested in a drive in Abed's Ghat area of Daulatpur, Kushtia around 9:30 pm on Wednesday.
The arrestee was identified as Rakibul Islam Rakhi, son of Hafizul Sardar of Philipnagar village in Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia. Several cases including arms, hijacking, drugs and extortion are underway against him. Rakhi is involved in drug and arms dealing. He is also involved in various terrorist activities in the char area of Daulatpur.
According to RAB, businessman Nurul Islam left for home on a motorcycle with Tk 5 lakh in cash bag from his business establishment adjacent to the Upazila Parishad Model Mosque around 9:30 pm on November 2. As soon as he reached home, three of the six armed muggers wearing helmets on two motorcycles entered his house and three hijackers stood outside the house. At that time, three people who entered the house tried to snatch the bag of money from Nurul Islam's hand. When Nurul refused to hand over the bag of money, they snatched the bag of money and his mobile phone at gunpoint.
